Palm Sunday - The King Who Came in Humility

Updated: Apr 15

Guest Speaker: Collin Brennan

Worship Leader: Tony Wolf

The Message

y at Ashland Church of Christ, we gathered to celebrate Palm Sunday—a day of great rejoicing and deep reflection, marking the beginning of Holy Week. The sanctuary was filled with worship, warmth, and the beautiful reminder of our Savior’s love as we read from Zechariah 9:9:

“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

This powerful prophecy reminded us that Jesus didn’t ride into Jerusalem with grandeur or force, but with gentleness and humility. He came not as a warrior king—but as a servant King.

We were honored to welcome Tony Wolf, who is currently touring with MercyMe. Tony opened the service with heartfelt music and testimony that stirred every heart in the room. His message reminded us that worship is more than music—it’s the posture of our hearts as we live out our faith.

Collin Brennan followed with a timely message titled “Humility”—a call to reflect on the kind of King Jesus is, and the kind of disciples we are called to be. Through Scripture, storytelling, and real-life challenges, Collin reminded us that following Jesus means embracing the upside-down Kingdom: where the last shall be first, where power is perfected in weakness, and where true greatness is found in servanthood.

After service, many stayed to connect over food and fellowship, enjoying one another’s company and continuing the conversation.

As we head into Holy Week, may we each carry this message with us:

Hosanna in the highest! The King has come—righteous, victorious, and humble.

Let’s prepare our hearts for the journey to the cross… and the joy of the resurrection to come.
